Project Gutenberg is a wonderful thing. But for some people, myself included, reading a novel on a computer screen is some combination of difficult or tedious. Some of the books can be purchased commercially, but usually at either high cost or low quality (sometimes both). And of course, many are out of print. Or, you can print them yourself. Often if you actually crunch the numbers, it's cheaper that way, BUT it's a shame to print out a full novel just to throw it away when you're done, and it's a pain to format it into a nice format for permanent binding.
Well, I actually find editing a book on the screen to be rather relaxing, so I've gone and done that part for you on some things. You'll still need to bind them, but that's rather easy following a tutorial like Wayne Schmidt's Bookbinding 101 or Achieve-It's. (Ignore all the ads for a printed version of the instructions.) All books on this page are in PDF files, formatted to print on both sides of half sheets of letter sized paper; a print shop can cut a ream in half for you. My apologies to everyone in the civilized parts of the world who use A4 and A5, but I'm formatting in Open Office, and changing the paper size once everything is formatted is not a trivial matter.
Unless otherwise noted, these books are in the public domain under United States copyright law.
